Ka‘ala Farm
Ka‘ala Farm is a deep-rooted community effort that has resulted in the restoration of an ecosystem and the blossoming of a learning center within a working farm.
They are a 501 (c) and currently are accepting donations right now to help rebuild the farm after the June 2012 fires. Please go to their website and help if you can.

“Ka‘ala Farm is
An ancient agricultural complex, restored and producing kalo as our ancestors did for centuries.
A Cultural Learning Center where learning comes alive for thousands of school children in our hands-on science program every year.
A cultural kīpuka where Hawaiian traditions are carried forth to make people and communities stronger.
The mission of Ka‘ala Farm is to reclaim and preserve the living culture of the Po‘e Kahiko (people of old) in order to strengthen the kinship relationships between the ‘āina (land, that which nourishes) and all forms of life necessary to sustain the balance of life on these vulnerable islands.
School Visits
Ka‘ala welcomes groups of students ages 4+ for a half-day learning experience at the Cultural learning Center. Wai‘anae High School Hawaiian Studies program students come for hands-on science learning throughout the school year. Email [email protected].
Mālama ‘Āina Internships
Ka‘ala offers summer learning opportunities for students from the coast interested in natural resource management careers. Applications open each April-May.
Rebuilding the Ahupua‘a
Ka‘ala hosts community groups to restore dryland forests at the Cultural Learning Center, and to grow native planting projects in Nanakuli, Makaha, and Kalaeloa.
Ho‘omau Ke Ola
Ka‘ala is a source of renewal for individuals in substance abuse recovery, who come to the Cultural Learning Center to work, connect to cultural practice, and heal.
